The hatching is controlled and deliberate. Strokes follow the direction of the form and develop in layered sequences rather than becoming crowded or exaggerated. This treatment of shadow adds depth to the volume and prevents the drawing from appearing flat. The contrast between dense dark areas and more open passages creates a precise visual rhythm.The quality of line is neither hesitant nor overly demonstrative. There is a calm decisiveness in the execution that lends the work a professional and mature presence. Here, line functions as a vehicle for expression, not merely as a descriptive tool.
